We operate an appointment system for all surgeries. Some are pre-bookable and some are for same day booking. Please try to avoid Mondays or Fridays if your appointment is not urgent. You may see any of the doctors at the Practice. You will be asked for a reason for your appointment and it would be very helpful if you could give a very brief outline of the problem. The doctors have asked the reception team to ask this as sometime more time may be required, or nursing assistance may be needed. Sometimes one of other members of the clinical team may be able to help you rather than the doctor. Each appointment is for 10 minutes, and for this reason we would advise that the clinicians deal with one problem only. If you have more than one issue, please advise the receptionist who will try to accommodate you.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please tell us as soon as possible as appointments are in great demand and your appointment could be offered to someone else.
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
We have received a lot of comments from patients telling us they feel they have to queue up outside the practice before we are open in order to get an appointment. The building, being right on the sea front, is very exposed to inclement weather and this is very unpleasant for patients. Other patients have commented they feel those people who can get to the practice early in person receive preferential treatment to those who can only ring in.
Therefore, from 1 October 2015, patients will no longer be able to make an appointment in person until after 10 am. We request that everyone needing a same day appointment telephones the practice from 8 am.
You will be asked by the receptionist what the nature of your condition is. This is at the request of the doctors and is to allow us to allocate more time if necessary. Some complaints can be seen by other members of the clinical team rather than the doctor, so by giving us a brief description it will allow us to book you in with the most appropriate person.
Miami Clinics and Childrens Walk In Clinic.
From 1 July 2015 if all of our urgent 'on the day' appointments are fully booked, our reception team may offer you an appointment at our new MIAMI [Minor Injury Assessment & Minor Illnesses] clinic. The MIAMI clinic is a new service being launched by 19 local GP practices across Adur and Worthing
If you require urgent advice please telephone the Surgery and give full details to the receptionist who will contact the appropriate person. The receptionist will be able to help with routine matters but cannot give medical advice. The doctors only have a short time each day to deal with telephone calls so if you need to speak to a doctor, please leave a message at the surgery, giving details of the problem and a telephone number where you can be contacted all day.
The doctors will return your call as soon as possible but will not be able to keep ringing you if you are not at home. Messages may also be left for Health Visitors, Midwives and the District Nurses; however it may be best to call them directly on the numbers detailed in the "Contact Details" section of this website.
ACCESS FOR THE LESS ABLE
Access can be gained to all ground floor consultation rooms without having to negotiate steps and distances between the waiting room and the consultation rooms are quite short. We have consulting rooms upstairs but these all have lift access. Please tell the receptionist if you cannot manage stairs and lift and we will make sure you can be seen downstairs.
